This is a guest post from Laura Backes. Laura enjoys writing about all kinds of subjects and also topics related to Internet service in my area. You can reach her at: [email protected]

You are a toe-tapping, online multi-tasker with a need for some good tunes. You spend much of our time online socialising, learning, working and playing. But with so many new sites, apps, widgets, blogs and products, it’s hard to keep up with what is best for your life. However, there are several sites that are available to you.

With much consideration and research, I would tend to put Pandora and Spotify on top of the list. Here is a brief breakdown for your next listening session:

  • Pandora is great for those writers and number crunchers of the world because of its ease and simple set use. The idea of Pandora is to create ‘stations’ that you like and then listen to songs that are similar to that taste you have selected. It’s like a do-it-yourself Sirius Radio. For example, you create a Frank Sinatra station, Pandora will not only play his songs but artists of the like — Tony Bennett, Michael Buble’ and so on.

You have the capability of refining your station by rating songs that play with a thumb up or thumb down. You can also pause and skip to the next song.

There are two types of Pandora, the webpage based or the desktop Pandora called Pandora One. Pandora One has a yearly fee at $36 for unlimited usage and free of all ads. Because it is on your desktop, Pandora One has a neat feature of having a small, discrete pop up to notify you of what song is playing. Pandora can play on most devices like your phone and iPad. Sharing capabilities include Twitter and Facebook.

  • Spotify is for those who know what they want and they want it now. Users are able to create different playlists with any amount of songs and different artist. What is great about Spotify is that you can share and exchange playlists with your friends that are also on Spotify. You also have the option for collaborative playlists, where your music selection acts as a team. Friends are able to add or remove songs on that playlists.

Your listening capabilities are unlimited and Spotify is a desktop based program but you will hear ads. If you want to upgrade you can pay $9.99 a month for Spotify Premium for no ad interruptions. Spotify is available on most devices like phones and computers. Sharing capabilities include: Twitter, Messenger and Facebook.

So if you are feeling like you want to control and play DJ, use Spotify but if you want easy, radio try out Pandora today. Either way you will be musically satisfied.
